The Managed Switch Aruba 2930F 12G PoE+ 2G/2SFP+ (JL693A) is a 1U rack-mountable Layer 3 access switch designed for enterprise edge, SMB and branch office networks. It provides 12 Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 ports, two SFP+ uplinks, support for 10GbE, and up to 740W PoE+ to power access points, cameras and phones. The switch delivers RIP and static routing, Access OSPF, a 32,768-entry MAC address table and a switching capacity of 68 Gbit/s, and integrates with Aruba network management tools including ClearPass, AirWave and cloud-based Aruba Central.
The Aruba 2930F combines Layer 3 functionality with simplified deployment and management: zero touch provisioning and integration with Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager, AirWave and Aruba Central reduce setup time and centralize policy enforcement. Virtual Switching Framework (VSF) enables stacking of up to eight chassis into a single logical device for scalability and simplified operations. The platform includes robust security and QoS features, hardware acceleration with an Aruba ProVision ASIC, selectable queue and buffer configurations, and support for IEEE PoE+ standards to deliver power and data over the same cable.
Install the Aruba 2930F in a standard 19-inch rack using the included rack-mount brackets. Connect power and any PoE devices to the RJ-45 ports; connect uplinks or SFP+ modules to the SFP+ ports for 10GbE aggregation. Use zero touch provisioning or the Aruba Central cloud portal, AirWave or ClearPass Policy Manager to perform initial configuration and apply consistent wired/wireless policies. Configure Layer 3 routing (RIP, static routes, or Access OSPF), VLANs, QoS and ACLs as required for your network design.
Place the switch in a cool, ventilated equipment rack and ensure firmware is kept up to date. When deploying PoE-powered devices, verify total PoE budget requirements and distribute high-power devices across units or ports to avoid exceeding available PoE capacity. Use VSF stacking for redundancy and simplified management in multi-switch deployments, and enable RMON/sFlow for monitoring traffic and troubleshooting.
