The HP Enterprise Aruba 6000 24G 4SFP is a managed Layer 3 Gigabit Ethernet switch in a 1U rack form factor offering 24 10/100/1000 RJ‑45 access ports and four SFP uplink slots. Designed as an entry-level Aruba CX access-layer device, it runs the AOS‑CX operating system and provides enterprise-class switching features including Layer 2 functionality with static routing, ACLs, QoS, IPv6 support and a MAC address table sized for typical small to medium network environments. The switch delivers a switching capacity suited to access or distribution roles and supports standard IEEE protocols for interoperability and reliable wired connectivity in branch offices, midsize businesses and small enterprises.
The Aruba 6000 24G 4SFP combines compact 1U rack compatibility with a fully managed AOS‑CX software stack to simplify deployment and operations. Built-in gigabit uplinks and SFP slots reduce the need for separate uplink modules, while the ASIC-based design provides low latency and efficient packet buffering. The model supports common enterprise features such as ACLs, QoS and IPv6, and can supply Power over Ethernet on PoE-capable variants to power access points and IoT devices. Management options include a web GUI, standard CLI, REST APIs and Aruba NetEdit automation for consistent configuration across multiple devices.
Install the switch in a standard 19-inch 1U rack or place it on a stable surface if rack mounting is not required. Connect SFP modules to the uplink slots when fiber or uplink modules are needed, and connect RJ‑45 Ethernet cables from endpoints to the access ports. Use the AOS‑CX web GUI, CLI or Aruba NetEdit tools to perform initial configuration: set management IP addresses, configure VLANs, apply ACLs and enable any required static routes. If PoE is required, verify the selected model and configure power allocation per port. Monitor performance and logs via the built-in management interfaces and integrate automation or REST API calls for ongoing configuration tasks.
For stable performance, place the switch in a temperature-controlled rack environment with adequate ventilation and use SFP transceivers and cabling that match the desired uplink speed and distance. When deploying in multi-switch topologies, plan VLAN and routing domains to limit broadcast domains and use ACLs and QoS to prioritize critical traffic such as VoIP and management. Use Aruba NetEdit or scripted CLI changes for consistent configuration across multiple Aruba CX switches to reduce manual errors.
