Fiber optic SFP LC SX transceiver module HP X121 1G 850 nm 1000 Mbit/s
Fiber optic SFP LC SX transceiver module HP X121 1G 850 nm 1000 Mbit/s
The HP X121 fiber optic SFP LC SX transceiver module provides a compact solution for short-range multimode fiber connections at Gigabit speeds. Supporting 1000 Mbit/s data rate over an 850 nm wavelength, this small form-factor pluggable (SFP) module is intended for use with SFP-compatible ports on switches, routers and servers. With a compact footprint of approximately 56.9 × 13.7 × 12.2 mm and a lightweight build, it is suitable for dense installation environments such as data centers and campus networks. The module supports full-duplex operation and is specified for reliable operation over multimode fiber distances up to 550 m.
This transceiver offers gigabit throughput over multimode fiber with low physical size and weight, enabling high port density in rack-mounted equipment. The LC connector interface and SFP form factor make it hot-pluggable and compatible with common networking hardware that accepts SFP modules. Operating at 850 nm and optimized for short-range links, the module balances performance and power efficiency for typical intra-building and campus runs.
Ensure the target device supports SFP modules and that the link uses compatible multimode fiber and LC connectors. Power down the port or follow the device vendor's hot-swap guidance, insert the SFP module into an available SFP slot until it seats, and connect duplex LC patch cords to the module and remote equipment. Verify link status through the device management interface and monitor for correct speed and duplex operation. Follow standard electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions when handling the transceiver and keep protective caps on unused optical interfaces.
Use high-quality OM3/OM4 multimode fiber for optimal reach and signal integrity up to the module's specified distance. Match fiber type and connector polarity at both ends of the link, and confirm interoperability with the network device vendor's supported transceiver list when possible. Perform optical power and link testing after installation to verify performance and continuity.
