Network transceiver module SFP 1000 Mbit/s 850 nm HP J4858D-C (5 pcs)
HP J4858D-C is a small form-factor pluggable (SFP) fiber optic transceiver module designed for Gigabit Ethernet links. Supplied as a pack of five modules, each transceiver supports up to 1000 Mbit/s data rate over multimode fiber at an 850 nm wavelength and uses an LC connector. The module conforms to MSA-compatible SFP interfaces and is intended for short-reach connections in data centers, switches and servers where 850 nm multimode fiber connectivity is required.
These SFP modules are hot-swappable and designed to initialize and operate compatibly with equivalent HP transceivers. Each unit has been programmed, uniquely serialized and tested for data-traffic and application performance to ensure consistent operation. The pack format provides spare modules or multiple-port deployment and the modules are built to meet or exceed HP specifications while complying with Multi-Source Agreement standards for interoperability.
Insert the SFP transceiver into an empty SFP port on a compatible switch, router or server until it seats firmly; the device is hot-swappable so the host can remain powered during installation or removal. Connect LC-terminated multimode fiber cables to the transceiver’s LC ports, ensuring correct transmit/receive orientation. Verify link status and module recognition in the host equipment’s management interface and monitor link parameters to confirm proper operation.
Use 850 nm multimode fiber with appropriate LC connectors and follow the host vendor’s guidance for supported third-party transceivers. Store unused modules in anti-static packaging, avoid exposure to dust on optical interfaces, and inspect/clean fiber connectors before insertion to maintain signal integrity.
