The InLine Fiber Optical Duplex Cable SC/ST 50/125µm OM4 2m is a multimode fiber patch cable designed for high-bandwidth network environments. It features a 50 µm core diameter and OM4 grading to support higher data rates and extended reach compared with lower OM classes. The cable uses SC and ST connectors in a duplex configuration to enable simultaneous transmit and receive channels for full-duplex links in data centers, server rooms, and campus backbones.
The OM4 multimode fiber offers improved modal bandwidth for 10G and 40G applications, while the 50/125µm core/cladding geometry provides compatibility with common multimode transceivers. The SC connector provides a push-pull, easy-to-use interface and the ST connector features a bayonet coupling for secure connections. A 2 meter length balances flexibility and manageable routing within racks and patch panels. The duplex construction ensures correct polarity and simplifies installation for paired fiber links.
Route the duplex cable between equipment ports or patch panel ports, ensuring bend radii are not exceeded and that the connectors remain clean. Insert the SC connector with a straight push until it latches, and insert the ST connector with alignment followed by a quarter-turn to engage the bayonet. Verify polarity and link status on connected transceivers or switches, and use dust caps when ports are not in use to avoid contamination. Handle the fiber by the connector bodies and avoid pulling on the cable jacket near the connector end.
Inspect and, if necessary, clean connector endfaces before mating using appropriate fiber cleaning tools. Maintain minimum bend radius as specified for multimode fiber to prevent increased attenuation. For critical links, test insertion loss and return loss after installation and document port mappings to ensure correct duplex orientation.
