The Managed Switch Lancom Systems XS-5116QF is a 1U aggregation switch designed for distributed networks that require high fiber-optic and multi‑Gigabit performance. It provides 14 SFP+ 10G ports (two of which can be used as multi‑Gigabit combo ports) and 2 QSFP+ 40G ports that can alternatively be used for stacking. The device supports L2 and L3 functions, a console port (RJ‑45/Micro‑USB) and a MAC address table of 32,000 entries. Two hot‑swappable power supplies, front‑to‑back airflow and comprehensive redundancy and routing features ensure resilient operation and ease of management via LANCOM Management Cloud, cloud‑enabled GUI or CLI.
The XS-5116QF delivers high port density with 10G SFP+ and 40G QSFP+ uplinks, enabling aggregation of access switches and high‑performance uplinks for mid‑sized distributed networks. Stacking support allows multiple physical units to operate as a single logical device, simplifying expansion and automatic configuration roll‑out. Built‑in L3 capabilities (static routing, DHCP server) reduce load on routers, while IEEE 802.1X and ACLs provide configurable port access control. Two hot‑swappable PSUs and optimized airflow increase operational availability. Secure remote management (SSH, SSL, SNMPv3, TACACS+) and LANCOM's "IT Security made in Germany" commitment add an additional level of trust and compliance.
Install the LANCOM XS-5116QF in a 19‑inch rack and connect SFP+ modules or transceivers appropriate for your fiber cabling. Configure the switch either via the LANCOM Management Cloud for automated provisioning, via the cloud‑enabled web GUI, or by CLI (including secure terminal access from the cloud). Use the QSFP+ ports for high‑capacity uplinks or for stacking multiple units; when added to a stack, new devices receive configuration from the stack master automatically. Enable static routes or the integrated DHCP server on the switch to offload routing tasks from upstream routers where needed. Configure IEEE 802.1X and ACLs for port access control and use TACACS+ for centralized authentication and accounting.
For resilient deployment, use two separate power sources for the hot‑swappable PSUs, enable stacking for redundancy where required, and provision the device via LANCOM Management Cloud to ensure consistent configuration across sites. Maintain firmware updates provided by LANCOM to keep the device secure and within the supported lifecycle.
