Description

The LevelOne Gigabit PoE Repeater (POR-0122) is a compact, passive network extender that increases the reach of a Power over Ethernet (PoE) link by an additional 100 metres without requiring configuration or an external power supply. It accepts PoE from a Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) such as a PoE switch and forwards data and power to two downstream PoE devices at Gigabit speeds, allowing flexible placement of devices like WLAN access points and network cameras.

Advantages

This PoE repeater extends an existing PoE link by 100 metres per unit while preserving 10/100/1000 Mbps wire-speed transmission. It requires no software or local power because it draws power from the upstream PoE source, simplifying deployment and centralising power management. The device provides two PoE output ports for connecting remote devices and supports daisy-chaining of multiple repeaters to further extend run length.

How to use

Connect the upstream PoE cable from a PoE-capable switch or injector to the repeater input. Then connect one or two Ethernet cables from the repeater’s PoE output ports to your PoE devices (for example, an access point or IP camera). The repeater will transparently pass data and power and extend the link by approximately 100 metres per unit. Multiple repeaters can be daisy-chained to increase reach further. No configuration or external power adapter is required.

Usage recommendations

Ensure the upstream PoE source can supply sufficient power for all downstream devices plus the repeater’s consumption. Use quality Cat5e or better Ethernet cable and observe maximum link budgets when daisy-chaining multiple repeaters to avoid voltage drop and power shortages at remote devices.
