Description

The LevelOne GVT-2000 gigabit media converter converts network signals between copper (RJ-45) and fiber-optic (SFP) networks. It provides one 10/100/1000Base-T RJ-45 port and one SFP slot for 1000Base-X optic modules, supports auto-sensing for 10Base-T, 100Base-TX and 1000Base-T, and works with half- and full-duplex links. The compact converter can operate as a standalone unit or slide into the CHV-2000 19" converter rack for centralized installation.

Advantages

The GVT-2000 supports gigabit speeds up to 1000 Mbit/s and offers flexible media conversion between copper and multi-mode or single-mode fiber using SFP modules. Built-in DIP switches enable Smart LFP (Link Fault Pass-through) functions, including signal loss detection and pass-through or cut-through modes for improved link monitoring. The device includes LED indicators for power, link and activity and operates in a wide temperature range from -10° to 55° Celsius.

How to use

Install an appropriate 1000Base-X SFP module into the SFP slot and connect the fiber cable. Connect the RJ-45 port to a copper Ethernet device or switch using CAT5e/6 cable. Configure the DIP switches to enable the desired LFP mode (Smart pass-through, cut-through or disabled) and verify link and activity LEDs to confirm network connectivity. Use the CHV-2000 rack if multiple converters need to be mounted centrally.

Usage recommendations

Use compatible SFP modules (matching single-mode or multi-mode fiber and wavelength) and quality Ethernet cabling; avoid exposing the device to temperatures outside the specified range to ensure stable operation.
