Description

The LogiLink WZ0014 5-in-1 Cable Tester checks five common LAN and computer cable types. It verifies installed wiring and patch cords with RJ-11, RJ-45, USB, IEEE1394 and BNC connectors, and is designed to detect wiring continuity and typical faults on straight-through connections. The compact, ergonomic handheld unit includes a remote tester stored inside the main unit and operates on a 9 V battery.

Advantages

The tester supports RJ-11, RJ-45, BNC, USB and IEEE1394 cables and can test both shielded (STP) and unshielded (UTP) LAN cables. A single-button operation, LED indicators and an audible beeper make result interpretation straightforward. The tool provides up to 600 ft (approximately 183 m) test distance for RJ-45/RJ-11/BNC cabling, has built-in battery test and convenient battery access, and comes with a carry bag for transport and storage.

How to use

Insert a 9 V battery into the main unit and, if needed, verify battery level using the built-in battery test. Connect one end of the cable to be tested to the main unit and the other end to the remote unit (or use the remote stored in the main unit). Press the single test button to start. Observe the LED sequence and listen for the audible beep to identify correct wiring or locate open, shorted or miswired pairs. For USB and IEEE1394 cables, ensure connectors are fully seated to allow shield and continuity testing.

Usage recommendations

Use this tester for checking straight-through wired connections; it is not intended to diagnose crossover or reverse-wired cables. Store the remote unit in the main unit when not in use and carry the tester in the supplied bag to protect it from damage. Replace the 9 V battery when the built-in battery test indicates low power to maintain reliable results.
