Welding electrodes Metalweld RUTWELD 12 for low-alloy and non-alloy steel, 4 mm, 1 kg
Metalweld RUTWELD 12 welding electrodes are covered MMA electrodes formulated for manual metal arc welding of low-alloy and non-alloy steels. Available in 4 mm diameter and supplied in 1 kg packs, these electrodes are designed to deliver a stable arc, consistent weld bead formation and acceptable mechanical properties for general fabrication, repair and maintenance work. They are intended for use with standard direct or alternating current welding sets adjusted to the recommended current range for a 4 mm electrode.
RUTWELD 12 electrodes produce a steady arc with relatively low spatters, ensuring predictable metal deposition and good control of the weld pool. The covering provides slag protection that is easy to remove, producing a uniform bead profile and sound fusion with parent material. Their composition and coating contribute to reliable performance in typical workshop and site conditions when appropriate welding parameters are applied.
Select appropriate welding current and polarity for a 4 mm covered electrode according to your welding power source recommendations. Clean the welding area of scale, rust and contaminants before welding. Strike the arc and maintain a consistent travel speed and electrode angle to achieve proper fusion and bead appearance. Allow slag to cool and chip it away between passes; remove slag completely before final finishing. Use suitable personal protective equipment and follow safe welding practices.
Store electrodes in a dry environment to prevent moisture pickup and potential hydrogen-related cracking. If electrodes have been exposed to humidity, consider drying them according to the manufacturer's instructions before use. Match electrode selection and welding parameters to the thickness and type of steel to achieve acceptable mechanical performance and to minimise distortion.
