Network Cable Extralink Twisted pair CAT5E SFTP V2 Outdoor 305M Black
The Extralink Twisted pair CAT5E SFTP V2 Outdoor 305M Black is an outdoor-rated network cable designed to support Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet applications. Constructed with four twisted pairs of 24 AWG pure copper conductors and insulated to a diameter of 0.97 mm per conductor, the cable uses SF/UTP (foil + braid) shielding to reduce electromagnetic and crosstalk interference. A durable polyethylene (PE) outer sheath provides mechanical strength, chemical resistance and a gas barrier suitable for external installations. The product is supplied on a self-expanding reel for convenient deployment over its full 305 m length.
The cable combines SFTP shielding and twisted-pair construction to enhance signal integrity in environments with potential electromagnetic disturbances. PE outer sheathing increases resistance to mechanical wear and many chemicals, extending service life in outdoor conditions. The 24 AWG pure copper conductors deliver adequate performance for both 100 Mbps and 1000 Mbps links, and the supplied 305 m reel simplifies handling and installation.
This cable meets Cat5e specifications and is suitable for Gigabit Ethernet, but it is not designed for higher category requirements such as Cat6 or Cat6a that offer greater bandwidth and thicker conductors. It does not include factory-attached connectors, so field termination or pre-terminated connectors are required for immediate plug-and-play use.
Plan the cable route and ensure appropriate conduit or ducting where required. Unwind the cable from the supplied self-expanding reel to avoid twisting or tangling. Terminate the cable ends with compatible RJ45 connectors or use appropriate outdoor-rated junction boxes and glands if terminating on-site; shielding must be properly connected to grounding points to benefit from SFTP protection. Follow local installation codes for outdoor cabling and secure the cable at regular intervals to prevent mechanical strain.
For best results, terminate shielding to a single-point ground and route the cable away from high-voltage power lines where possible. Use outdoor-rated connectors or sealed junctions for exposed terminations and inspect bends to maintain the manufacturer’s recommended bend radius.
