Welding Electrodes MODECO MN-97-904 rutile-cellulose coated Ø2.5 mm 5 kg
MODECO MN-97-904 rutile-cellulose coated welding electrodes, 2.5 mm diameter, net weight 5 kg, are intended for manual metal arc (MMA) welding of mild and low-alloy steels. The rutile-cellulose coating combines easy arc strike and good wetting with controlled slag formation, enabling stable arc characteristics and predictable bead appearance. These electrodes are suitable for general fabrication, repair and maintenance tasks where ease of use and consistent weld quality are required.
Rutile-cellulose coating provides smooth arc initiation and a soft, easily removable slag seam, reducing post-weld cleaning time. The electrodes deliver stable arc behavior and manageable spatter levels, resulting in consistent bead formation. Their 2.5 mm diameter balances deposition rate and accessibility for joints of medium thickness, while the 5 kg package offers a practical quantity for workshop and field use.
Select welding current appropriate for 2.5 mm electrodes and the thickness of the workpieces, set the electrode holder, and ensure clean, properly prepared joint surfaces. Strike the arc and maintain a consistent travel speed and angle to achieve uniform penetration and bead shape. After welding, allow welded joints to cool gradually and chip or wire-brush the slag to inspect the weld for continuity and defects. Follow standard safety procedures, including appropriate personal protective equipment and ventilation.
Store electrodes in a dry place and protect them from moisture to preserve coating integrity. For vertical or overhead welding, adjust welding parameters and travel technique to maintain fusion and minimize slag inclusion. When welding thicker sections, use proper joint preparation and multiple passes as required to achieve full penetration.
