Welding Electrodes MODECO MN-97-906, rutile-cellulose coating, Ø3.2 mm, 5 kg
MODECO MN-97-906 welding electrodes with a rutile-cellulose coating, diameter 3.2 mm, in a 5 kg package are intended for manual metal arc welding (MMA/SMAW) of general construction steels. These electrodes combine rutile and cellulose ingredients in the coating to provide a stable arc, good bead appearance and controllable slag removal. The product is suitable for workshop fabrication, onsite repair and maintenance work where a single, multipurpose coated electrode is needed.
The rutile-cellulose coating ensures easy arc striking and re-striking, stable arc characteristics and relatively smooth weld bead formation. Slag is designed to detach without excessive chipping, reducing finishing time. The 3.2 mm diameter offers a balance between penetration and deposition rate for common structural and maintenance tasks. Packaged as a 5 kg unit, the electrodes are convenient for professional and occasional use.
Select a welding current appropriate for 3.2 mm electrodes and the material thickness, set the power source according to the electrode manufacturer's recommended amperage range, and ensure correct polarity if required by the electrode type. Prepare joint surfaces by removing loose rust, scale and contaminants to obtain sound fusion. Strike the arc and maintain a steady travel speed and electrode angle to achieve consistent bead profile; allow slag to cool slightly before chip-off to avoid weld surface damage.
Store electrodes in a dry, temperature-stable environment to avoid moisture pickup. If moisture absorption is suspected, follow recommended drying procedures before use. Use appropriate personal protective equipment, ensure adequate ventilation, and follow local welding safety standards and practices.
