Welding Electrodes MODECO MN-97-909, rutile-cellulose coating, 4.0 mm, 5 kg
MODECO MN-97-909 welding electrodes with a rutile-cellulose coating and 4.0 mm core diameter are designed for manual metal arc welding (MMA). Supplied in a 5 kg pack, these electrodes are intended for general-purpose steel welding where a rutile-cellulose flux provides easy arc ignition, a stable arc and smooth slag detachment. They are suitable for fabrication, repair and maintenance tasks that require reliable bead appearance and manageable welding characteristics.
The rutile-cellulose coating ensures straightforward arc starting and consistent arc stability, which helps maintain uniform penetration and bead shape. The coating formulation promotes easy slag removal and a relatively smooth weld finish, reducing post-weld cleaning time. The 4.0 mm diameter balances current-carrying capability and ease of manipulation for medium-thickness steels, while the 5 kg pack provides a practical quantity for workshop and site use.
Select appropriate welding current for 4.0 mm electrodes according to equipment specifications and material thickness. Prepare joint edges by removing rust, scale and contaminants to ensure good fusion. Set the welding machine to the recommended current range, strike the arc and maintain a steady travel speed and angle to achieve uniform penetration. After welding, chip and brush the slag away once cooled to inspect the weld and perform any required finishing.
Store electrodes in a dry place and protect them from moisture; if electrodes have been exposed to humidity, follow manufacturer guidance for drying before use. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including welding helmet, gloves and protective clothing, and ensure adequate ventilation during manual metal arc welding.
