Welding Electrode Monolith E4047 3.2 mm for Aluminum Si 12%
Welding Electrode Monolith E4047 3.2 mm for Aluminum Si 12%
Monolith E4047 welding electrode, 3.2 mm diameter, formulated for aluminum and aluminum-silicon alloys with approximately 12% silicon. Designed for welding Al-Si castings and components, it offers compatible filler composition to produce sound joints with good fluidity and reduced tendency to hot cracking. Suitable for gas-shielded or otherwise appropriate welding processes used for repair, fabrication and joining of Al-Si parts.
The E4047 composition provides enhanced wettability and flow at the weld pool, promoting smooth bead formation on aluminum castings and fabricated parts. Its silicon content reduces the melting point of the filler and improves compatibility with Al-Si base metals, lowering the risk of solidification cracks and facilitating stronger, more consistent welds when correct welding parameters are applied.
Select appropriate welding equipment and gas shielding for aluminum welding, set parameters suitable for a 3.2 mm electrode and the thickness of the workpieces, and prepare joint surfaces by removing oxides and contaminants. Use recommended travel speed and current range for the electrode size to maintain a stable arc and proper fusion. Apply proper interpass cleaning and allow controlled cooling to avoid thermal shock; follow safety and manufacturer guidelines for handling and storage.
Store electrodes in a dry, clean environment to prevent contamination and oxidation. For best results, match filler composition to the base metal and use correct shielding gas and welding settings; consult welding procedure specifications for critical applications.
