Managed Switch Moxa EtherDevice EDS-408A Multi Mode SC Connector x 2
The Moxa EtherDevice EDS-408A is an entry-level managed Ethernet switch with 8 RJ-45 ports and 2 multi‑mode SC fiber connectors, designed for industrial networks. It provides managed features such as Turbo Ring, VLAN, QoS, RMON, bandwidth management, port mirroring, and alarm notifications via email or relay. The Turbo Ring function is ready to use and can be configured through the web interface or left on default plug-and-play settings.
The switch supports fast ring recovery (Turbo Ring recovery time < 20 ms at full load) and RSTP/STP standards for network redundancy. It implements port‑based VLAN, IEEE 802.1p/1Q and TOS/DiffServ QoS, SNMP v1/v2c/v3 for management security, and RMON for monitoring. Industrial features include bandwidth management, automatic backup configurator (ABC‑01) compatibility, port mirroring, automated IP address recovery for connected devices, patented line‑swap fast recovery, redundant dual DC power inputs, and an IP30 rugged metal housing. Models are available for standard (0 to 60°C) and extended (-40 to 75°C) operating temperatures, with up to 40 km optical link distance and mounting options for DIN‑rail or panel installation.
Install the switch on a DIN‑rail or panel and connect DC power to the redundant power inputs. Connect Ethernet devices to the RJ‑45 ports and fiber links to the SC connectors. Access the web management interface, Telnet, or serial console to configure VLANs, QoS, Turbo Ring, and other management functions; default settings also allow plug‑and‑play use. Use the ABC‑01 tool for configuration backup and port mirroring for online diagnostics. Monitor status with SNMP or RMON and configure alarm notifications by email or relay as required.
For reliable operation in industrial environments, choose the extended temperature model if ambient conditions fall outside 0–60°C, use redundant DC power for uptime, and verify fiber cabling and transceiver compatibility to achieve the expected long‑haul link distances.
