The MOXA EDR-810 is a compact industrial wired router combining an all-in-one firewall, NAT, VPN, router and managed Layer 2 switch in a single device. It supports Fast Ethernet 10/100Base-T(X) connections, multiple WAN/LAN port configuration, routing (RIP-1/2) and common network management protocols (SNMP, DHCP, NTP, TFTP, HTTP/HTTPS, SSH/Telnet). The device is designed to create an electronic security perimeter for remote control and monitoring networks and protects critical cyber assets in applications such as water stations, oil & gas DCS, and factory PLC/SCADA systems.

How to use

Install the EDR-810 in the network rack and connect the Ethernet cables to the configured WAN and LAN ports. Use the web-based UI to run the “WAN Routing Quick Setting” to automatically assign routing roles to ports. Configure firewall policies and apply the “Quick Automation Profile” to enable protocol-aware filtering for EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, EtherCAT, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, and PROFINET. If remote secure access is required, enable IPSec VPN (or other supported VPN types) and configure authentication (PSK or X.509v3) and encryption settings. Monitor and manage the device using SNMP, NTP synchronization and the available CLI or web interfaces.

Usage recommendations

For industrial deployments, enable the Quick Automation Profile and deep Modbus TCP inspection to reduce protocol-originated threats. Choose the wide-temperature (T) model for installations in extreme environments and configure redundancy for critical WAN links when continuous remote access is required.
