Managed network switch MOXA EDS-G509 — 4 RJ-45 ports, DC-in jack, IEEE 802.1Q/802.1x support
The MOXA EDS-G509 is a managed industrial network switch featuring 9 Gigabit Ethernet ports and up to 5 fiber optic ports, designed to upgrade existing networks to Gigabit speeds or to build a full Gigabit backbone. It supports IEEE switching standards and full-duplex operation to ensure reliable transmission of video, voice and data in demanding applications such as video monitoring, process control, shipbuilding, intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and distributed control systems (DCS).
The EDS-G509 provides Gigabit transmission for higher bandwidth and rapid transfer of large files and streams. Redundant topologies including Turbo Ring, Turbo Chain and RSTP/STP improve network reliability and backbone availability. Managed features such as VLAN, QoS and port management enable traffic control and secure segmentation for industrial and commercial deployments. The unit offers a compact industrial design with DC-in power support and broad IEEE standard compatibility.
Install the EDS-G509 in a suitable rack or enclosure and connect power using the DC-in jack. Connect copper Ethernet devices to the RJ-45 ports and fiber links to the available fiber ports to create a Gigabit backbone. Use the switch’s management interface to configure VLANs, QoS policies, redundant topologies (Turbo Ring, Turbo Chain or RSTP/STP) and port-level settings for traffic control and network segmentation. Verify link status and system logs after configuration to ensure stable operation.
For backbone deployments, plan fiber and copper port assignments to separate critical traffic (video and control) using VLANs and QoS. Enable redundant ring or chain modes for high-availability applications and schedule firmware updates during maintenance windows. Ensure adequate ventilation and a stable DC power source in industrial environments.
