The Media converter RJ45 to SC No name GVT-2014 converts Gigabit Ethernet over copper (RJ45) to single-mode fiber (SC) using a 1310 nm wavelength for link distances up to 20 km. This compact single-port media converter supports 10/100/1000Base-T and complies with Gigabit Ethernet standards while providing Power over Ethernet (PoE) PSE functionality with a 30 W power budget to feed remote network devices through the RJ45 port.
The GVT-2014 supports full-duplex 1000 Mbps operation and auto-negotiation for 10/100/1000 rates, with auto-MDI/MDIX to simplify cabling. Its single-mode SC fiber interface enables long-distance links up to 20 km using 1310 nm optical wavelength. Integrated IEEE 802.3af/at PoE PSE delivers up to 30 W to connected devices, reducing the need for separate power cabling. The unit supports flow control and jumbo frames (up to 9K) for improved throughput and reduced packet loss.
Install the GVT-2014 in a suitable indoor location with proper ventilation. Connect the single-mode SC fiber optic cable to the SC port and ensure correct fiber polarity and connector cleanliness. Plug a standard Ethernet cable from the RJ45 PoE port to the powered device (PD) such as a network camera or access point. Power the media converter from the network power source according to installation instructions; the unit will provide PoE to the connected device up to the 30 W budget. Verify link LEDs and device operation, and test the network throughput after installation.
Maintain clean fiber connectors and use appropriate fiber patch cords to ensure optimal optical performance. Verify device power requirements before connecting to the PoE port to avoid exceeding the 30 W budget. For outdoor or harsh environments, install the converter within a sheltered enclosure and ensure proper grounding and surge protection for fiber and copper lines when required.
