Single-mode fiber pigtail with SC connector, No name PIG-SC
Single-mode fiber pigtail with SC connector (No name PIG-SC) provides a factory-terminated short fiber lead with an SC male connector on one end and an exposed single-mode fiber on the other for fusion splicing. It is intended for precise termination and reliable connection inside optical patch panels, distribution frames and splice trays where a permanent splice from pigtail to installed fiber is required. The pigtail supports single-mode transmission and is suitable for standard telecom and data center optical infrastructures.
The pigtail comes factory-assembled to ensure consistent connector polishing and minimal insertion loss at the connector interface. The exposed fiber end is prepared for fusion splicing to field cabling, which reduces on-site termination work and helps maintain low splice loss. The SC connector provides a stable push-pull connection, compatibility with standard adapters and high density mounting in patch panels. The short lead length simplifies cable management inside enclosures.
Install the SC connector into the appropriate adapter or equipment receptacle, ensuring the connector is clean and free of dust before mating. Prepare the field fiber by stripping, cleaning and cleaving according to standard fusion-splice procedures, then perform fusion splicing between the exposed pigtail fiber and the field fiber. After splicing, protect the splice with an appropriate heat-shrink sleeve or splice protector and secure the pigtail and incoming fibers inside a splice tray or panel to prevent strain on the joint.
Handle the exposed fiber end with care to avoid contamination or damage. Use proper fiber-cleaning tools and inspection equipment to verify connector end-face quality and splice integrity. Store unused pigtails in protective packaging and avoid sharp bends; observe the manufacturer’s minimum bend radius for single-mode fiber.
