The pigtail features a factory-terminated SC connector on one end and a bare fiber tail on the other for fusion or mechanical splicing, intended for use in splicing enclosures and patch panels to provide a consistent, reliable connection.
This SC 50/125 µm multimode pigtail offers a pre-terminated connector to reduce installation time and variation from field termination. The 0.9 mm buffered jacket protects the fiber during handling and routing, while the 1 m length gives flexibility for routing inside panels or enclosures. The factory termination ensures connector geometry and polishing are performed under controlled conditions for predictable optical performance.
Prepare the patch panel or splice enclosure according to site procedures. Route the pigtail into the panel and secure the buffered fiber in the designated holders. Perform fusion or mechanical splicing of the bare fiber tail to the network fiber following standard splicing practices. Once spliced, dress the splice and close the enclosure; insert the SC connector into the adapter on the panel to complete the connection.
Handle the bare fiber tail with care to avoid contamination or breakage. Use appropriate splice protectors and follow manufacturer guidelines for cleaning and inspection of the SC connector endface. Maintain bend radii above the fiber's minimum to prevent increased attenuation.
