Tubular optical weld protection OEM 35895 is a 45 mm protective sleeve designed for mechanical protection of optical weld joints and for shielding small lenses or sensors from spatter and heat. Made in the EU, the sleeve is supplied as a set of 12 colors and conforms to UL224, MIL-I-23053 and GR-1380-CORE standards. The product meets EU RoHS requirements.

Advantages

The tubular sleeve provides a shrunk outer diameter of 2.4 mm ± 0.2 mm and a pre-shrink inner diameter of 1.4 mm, enabling a tight fit on appropriate optical fibers or small cylindrical components. It includes a 1 mm reinforcement wire for added mechanical strength. Shrink starts at a minimum of 110 °C with a maximum shrink time of 60 seconds. Standard color is transparent; the set contains 12 colored sleeves.

How to use

Slide the appropriate colored sleeve over the optical fiber splice, lens edge or sensor housing so the reinforcement wire aligns with the area needing mechanical support. Apply heat evenly (e.g., with a heat gun) until the sleeve shrinks and the outer diameter reaches approximately 2.4 mm. Ensure the temperature reaches at least 110 °C but do not exceed safe handling limits; complete shrinking within 60 seconds for optimal results.

Usage recommendations

For reliable protection, select the sleeve color for easy identification, avoid prolonged exposure to temperatures above the shrink threshold, and follow safety procedures for heat application. Store the sleeves in a dry environment and handle with appropriate tools to prevent damage to the reinforcement wire or sleeve before installation.
