SFP transceiver OEM X121 J4858C_OEM 1G LC SX module
SFP transceiver OEM X121 J4858C_OEM 1G LC SX module is a small form-factor pluggable fiber module that provides 1.25 Gbps optical links for 1000BASE-SX networks. It uses multimode fiber optics with an 850 nm VCSEL light source and an LC duplex connector, supporting typical short-range connections up to 300 m (or up to 550 m depending on fiber grade). The module operates from a 3.3 V supply and is specified for use in environments from 0 to 70°C. It is compatible with HP equipment and equivalent to the J4858C model.
The module offers compact SFP form factor for hot-pluggable installation, standardized 1000BASE-SX performance for short-range multimode links, and an LC duplex interface for easy connection. Low-voltage 3.3 V operation and wide operating temperature range make it suitable for standard network equipment racks. HP compatibility (J4858C equivalent) simplifies replacement and interoperability with systems that require that transceiver footprint.
Insert the SFP transceiver into an available SFP slot on a compatible switch or router while the device is powered on or during maintenance windows if hot-swap is not supported by your hardware. Connect LC duplex multimode fiber patch cables to the module, ensuring correct TX/RX alignment. Verify link status and speed via the network device management interface and monitor signal LEDs. If necessary, configure interface settings on the switch to enable 1 Gbps operation and check compatibility notes for HP-equivalent modules.
Use multimode fiber of appropriate OM grade for the required distance (for example OM2/OM3/OM4) and keep patch cable lengths, connector cleanliness, and proper TX/RX orientation in mind. Confirm firmware or vendor compatibility for third-party transceivers when installing in managed switches to avoid link recognition issues.
