Threaded nipple (reducing) Opal N8 zinc-plated 1½"–1"
Threaded nipple (reducing) Opal N8 zinc-plated 1½"–1" is a compact reducing connector made of zinc-plated steel with a male 1½" thread at one end and a male 1" thread at the other. It is intended for joining pipes or fittings of different diameters in plumbing, heating and general installation systems. The zinc-plated surface provides basic corrosion resistance suitable for potable water and central heating applications where a durable threaded reducer is required.
The zinc-plated steel construction offers improved resistance to rust compared with untreated steel, and the machined threads ensure reliable sealing when used with appropriate thread sealant or tape. Its reducing design allows direct connection between 1½" and 1" threaded components without the need for additional adapters, simplifying installation and reducing the number of parts in a system.
Ensure both mating threads are clean and free of debris. Apply thread sealant such as PTFE tape or an appropriate pipe joint compound to the male threads to achieve a watertight seal. Hand-start the fitting into the mating female thread to avoid cross-threading, then tighten with a wrench until secure; do not overtighten to prevent damage to the threads or deformation of the fitting. Verify the connection for leaks under normal system pressure after installation.
Use this zinc-plated reducing nipple in systems where contact with highly corrosive media is not expected; for aggressive environments consider stainless steel or brass alternatives. Match thread standard (BSP, NPT or other) with the mating components before installation and use compatible sealing materials for reliable, long-term performance.
