Laptop Dock OWC OWCTB4HUB5P Wired Thunderbolt Grey 40 Gbit/s
The OWC OWCTB4HUB5P Wired Thunderbolt Grey 40 Gbit/s is a compact laptop dock designed to expand the connectivity of modern laptops and desktops. With Thunderbolt technology providing up to 40 Gbit/s throughput, the dock enables high-speed data transfer, multi-display support and charging through a single connection. The unit’s small footprint (73 mm × 118 mm × 17 mm) and Space Grey finish make it easy to place on a desk or carry with a mobile workstation. It supports both Windows 10 x64 and macOS 11.0 (Big Sur) and adds additional USB and Thunderbolt ports for peripherals and high-performance storage.
The dock increases the number of full-speed Thunderbolt ports available to your computer, allowing connection of displays, NVMe storage, A/V devices and other peripherals without sacrificing performance. Its 40 Gbit/s Thunderbolt bandwidth supports demanding workflows like large file transfers and high-resolution video output. The compact design minimizes desk clutter while delivering stable power delivery and continued port power even when a host system sleeps. The device also supports multi-branch connections so individual device removal does not necessarily interrupt other chains.
Connect the dock to your laptop or PC using the supplied Thunderbolt cable into a Thunderbolt host port. Attach displays, external storage or peripherals to the Thunderbolt/USB ports on the dock. Install any required drivers or firmware updates on your host system if prompted; the device supports Windows 10 x64 and macOS 11.0 Big Sur and later. Use standard display and storage management tools on your operating system to configure multiple monitors and external drives. To avoid data loss, use the included OWC Dock Ejector software or the system’s eject function before unplugging storage devices.
For consistent high performance, connect high-bandwidth storage and displays directly to the hub’s Thunderbolt ports rather than through long or low-quality adapters. When using multiple bus-powered devices, verify power and performance with your specific devices; place firmware-updated drives and peripherals first in the connection order where recommended. Use OWC ClingOn cable stabilizers for secure cable connections in active workspaces and the Dock Ejector utility to safely disconnect multiple drives.
