Network Media Converter PLANET FT-802
The PLANET FT-802 is a network media converter that connects 100BASE-FX fiber links to 10/100BASE-TX shielded twisted-pair (STP) copper ports. It operates at a 1310 nm wavelength, supports multi-mode and single-mode fiber options, and provides up to 2000 m fiber reach for the listed model. The FT-802 supports both half-duplex and full-duplex operation and adapts automatically to the highest performance mode supported by the connected STP device. The unit is housed in a durable metal case and is designed for reliable 100 Mbit/s Fast Ethernet conversion.
The FT-802 delivers straightforward fiber-to-copper conversion with automatic duplex and speed adaptation, enabling up to 200 Mbps effective bandwidth when both ends operate in full duplex. It includes Link Fault Passthrough (LFP) functionality (LLCF/LLR) to immediately indicate link failures and a DIP switch to enable or disable the LFP feature. Its single fiber port (SC connector) and compact metal housing make it suitable for installation in diverse network environments where space and reliability are important.
Install the FT-802 in a stable environment and connect the fiber cable with SC connector to the fiber port and the STP (shielded RJ-45) cable to the copper port. The converter will automatically negotiate speed and duplex with the connected copper device. If the network requires manual duplex control on the fiber interface, use the override DIP switch to set half- or full-duplex mode. Use the DIP switch to enable or disable the LFP function according to your monitoring needs.
For reliable operation, match fiber type (multi-mode or single-mode) and connector type across both ends, keep fiber connectors clean, and place the converter in a ventilated area within its operating temperature range. Enable LFP if you need immediate notification of link failures; disable it if your network equipment manages fault reporting differently.
