Network Media Converter PLANET FTP-802S15
The PLANET FTP-802S15 is a network media converter with integrated Power over Ethernet (PoE) injector, designed to link fiber-optic and copper Ethernet segments while supplying DC 48 V power to remote devices. It converts 100Base-FX optical signals to 10/100Base-TX electrical Ethernet and supports single-mode fiber connections up to 15,000 meters at 1310 nm. The unit is suitable for long-reach network equipment such as wireless access points, IP surveillance cameras and IP phones where both data and power need to be delivered over the same cabling.
The FTP-802S15 combines media conversion and IEEE 802.3af PoE power sourcing in one compact device, reducing the number of cables and eliminating the need for local AC outlets at remote installation points. It supports store-and-forward switching and IEEE 802.3x flow control to help prevent packet loss in full-duplex operation. With Link Fault Pass-through (LFP) and DIP-switch selectable settings, the unit can notify administrators of link issues and provide flexible configuration for different deployments.
Install the FTP-802S15 near your fiber termination point and connect the single-mode SC fiber to the 100Base-FX port. Connect the RJ-45 port to the powered device (PD) or to a PoE splitter using standard Cat5/6 twisted-pair cable; the unit supplies DC 48 V over the Ethernet cable to IEEE 802.3af-compliant devices. Use the DIP switch to enable or disable Link Fault Pass-through (LFP) as required. Ensure the remote device is within 100 m of the RJ-45 port when powered over Ethernet, and verify fiber type and connector compatibility before deployment.
For reliable long-distance links, use single-mode fiber with appropriate transceivers and maintain proper fiber handling. Keep the powered device within 100 m of the RJ-45 port for PoE operation and confirm that the PD supports IEEE 802.3af. Enable LFP to assist monitoring and troubleshooting in managed networks.
