PLANET GSW-1820VHP is an unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet switch with 16 10/100/1000BASE-T ports that deliver PoE+ (up to 30 W per port) and two 1000BASE-X SFP slots. The switch includes an internal power system with a total PoE budget of 300 W and non-blocking switching performance, making it suitable for IP surveillance and other PoE device deployments. A front-panel color LCD provides real-time PoE and port status, simple troubleshooting and configuration without a PC or additional software.

How to use

Install the switch in a suitable location or rack, connect uplink fiber modules to the SFP slots if required, and connect PoE devices to the RJ45 ports using Cat5e/Cat6 cables. The front LCD provides per-port PoE and link status and allows selection of Standard, VLAN or Extend modes. In Extend mode, the switch supports 10 Mbps duplex with PoE up to 250 m for compatible devices. No additional software is required for basic operation; power on the unit and attach devices to begin supplying data and PoE.

Usage recommendations

For stable operation distribute PoE load evenly across ports to avoid exceeding the 300 W budget, choose appropriate SFP transceivers for required fiber distance, and use shielded or recommended Category cables (Cat5e/Cat6) for optimal Gigabit performance. Use Extend mode only when longer cable runs are necessary and ensure connected PDs support reduced data rates and the extended-distance PoE mode.
