PLANET GSW-2401 is an unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet switch with 24 RJ45 10/100/1000 Mbps ports and a non-blocking switching capacity of 48 Gbps. It supports 9K jumbo frames, a MAC address table of up to 8K entries, IEEE networking standards and is designed for rack mounting in a 1U form factor. The switch offers multiple operation modes via a DIP switch—Standard, Flow Control Off, VLAN and Extend—making it suitable for backbone links, data center uplinks and server connections.

Advantages

The GSW-2401 delivers wire-speed throughput and store-and-forward forwarding to ensure low latency and high data integrity. Its Extend mode permits 10 Mbps duplex links up to 200 m to overcome standard 100 m UTP limits, while VLAN mode provides port-based isolation to reduce broadcast/multicast storms. The fanless design reduces power consumption and eliminates noise, and auto-MDI/MDI-X with auto-negotiation simplifies cabling and speed detection.

How to use

Install the GSW-2401 in a standard 19-inch rack using the supplied mounting kit or place it on a flat surface. Connect network devices to the RJ45 ports using Cat5e/6 cables. Use the DIP switch to select the desired operation mode: choose Standard for normal Gigabit switching, VLAN for port isolation, Extend to enable 10 Mbps links up to 200 m, or Flow Control Off to disable flow control. The switch will auto-negotiate speed and duplex with connected devices; no further configuration is required because it is unmanaged.

Usage recommendations

For optimal performance, use Cat5e or Cat6 cabling and enable VLAN mode when port isolation is needed to limit broadcast domains. Use Extend mode only for legacy or remote devices that require longer reach at 10 Mbps and avoid mixing Extend-mode ports with high-bandwidth servers. Place the switch in a well-ventilated area to maintain passive cooling despite its fanless design.
