Network Media Converter PLANET GT-806A15
The PLANET GT-806A15 is a Gigabit network media converter that provides conversion between 10/100/1000BASE-T copper Ethernet and 1000BASE-LX fiber links using an SC connector. Designed for long-distance fiber transmission, this model supports a maximum transfer distance of 15,000 m at a wavelength of 1310 nm, complies with IEEE 802.3 standards and is suitable for use as a standalone unit or as a slide-in module for PLANET 19-inch media chassis. It accepts 5 V input and has low power consumption of 4.6 W, offering a compact, black housing with one RJ45 port and SC fiber port.
The GT-806A15 enables high-speed Gigabit conversion between copper and fiber with stable long-distance performance and low power consumption. Its compliance with IEEE 802.3 standards ensures interoperability with existing Ethernet equipment. The converter supports auto MDI/MDI-X on the TP port and configurable Link Fault Pass-Through (LFP) via DIP switch, providing immediate link-failure signaling (LLCF/LLR) for more effective network monitoring. Installation is simple with Plug and Play operation and options for standalone power or chassis-mounted deployment.
Mount the GT-806A15 as a standalone unit using its DC adapter or slide it into a compatible PLANET 19-inch media converter chassis for centralized power and rack installation. Connect the copper device to the RJ45 port and the fiber link to the SC port, ensuring correct fiber type and connectors. Configure the DIP switch to enable or disable Link Fault Pass-Through (LFP) as required for your monitoring setup; use the auto MDI/MDI-X feature on the TP port for straightforward connection to equipment without manual crossover cabling. After connections are made, power the unit and verify link LEDs to confirm successful link negotiation.
Use single-mode fiber and appropriate SC connectors for long-distance runs, verify the 1310 nm wavelength compatibility with remote transceivers, and enable LFP (LLCF/LLR) when you need immediate detection of link failures. Ensure the device is installed in a ventilated area and, when possible, use a PLANET media converter chassis for centralized power and easier maintenance.
