PLANET MC1310SC is a network media converter that converts between copper 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet and single-mode fiber using a 1310 nm TX SC port. It enables fiber uplinks for switches or routers, extends network reach for point-to-point links and backbone connections, and provides electromagnetic isolation where required.
The media converter complies with IEEE 802.3/802.3u standards and supports automatic MDI/MDI-X detection, back pressure and IEEE 802.3x flow control for half- and full-duplex operation. It includes up to 2 Mbit buffer memory on-chip and a high-performance memory bandwidth of 1.4 Gbps. The device meets FCC Class B and CE safety standards and offers flexible power options (external 5 VDC 1 A, or wide-range built-in AC input / 48 VDC where applicable).
Install the MC1310SC near the copper device (switch or router) and connect the RJ-45 port to the Ethernet port using Cat5 UTP cable. Connect a single-mode fiber cable with an SC connector to the 1310 nm TX port for the fiber uplink. Select or connect the appropriate power source (external 5 V DC adapter or the built-in AC/48 VDC input depending on the unit) and power on the device. The converter will automatically detect MDI/MDI-X and negotiate duplex mode and flow control with the connected devices.
Use single-mode fiber with the specified core sizes and quality connectors; verify fiber polarity and cleanliness before installation. Install the converter in a location within the specified temperature and humidity ranges and ensure the appropriate power option is used for the model variant.
