PLANET VC-231 is an Ethernet-over-VDSL2 converter that delivers high-performance Ethernet connectivity over existing copper telephone lines. Supporting VDSL2 technology, the device enables symmetric data rates up to 100/100 Mbps within 300 m and up to 50/2 Mbps for distances up to 1.4 km. The VC-231 includes one RJ-45 Ethernet port and one RJ-11 VDSL2 phone jack and can be used as an Ethernet extender without rewiring.

Connect the RJ-11 VDSL2 jack of the VC-231 to the existing telephone line and plug the RJ-45 Ethernet port into the local network device (router, switch or PC). Install the supplied POTS splitter at the telephone outlet to separate voice and VDSL2 signals if you need to preserve phone service. Set the device to CPE mode at the subscriber end and to CO mode at the central end using the built-in DIP switch; a CPE unit and a CO unit form a point-to-point link.
