Network Cable Qoltec SC/UPC - SC/UPC Multimode 50/125 OM4 Duplex 5m Black
The Qoltec SC/UPC - SC/UPC Multimode 50/125 OM4 Duplex 5m Black network cable provides a factory-terminated optical connection for short- to medium-range high-bandwidth links. Constructed to OM4 multimode fiber standards with a 50/125 µm core/cladding profile and SC/UPC connectors on both ends, this 5‑metre duplex cable supports simultaneous transmit and receive channels in a single assembly. Its black jacket and robust termination make it suitable for patching and interconnects in network racks, data centers, telecom rooms and office installations.
This OM4 multimode cable offers higher modal bandwidth than lower-grade multimode fibers, enabling increased data throughput and extended reach for common LAN and data centre applications. The duplex SC/UPC terminations provide low-loss, easy-to-install push-pull connections compatible with standard SC ports. The pre-terminated assembly reduces installation time and risk of damage compared to field-terminated fiber, while the durable outer jacket helps protect the fiber in typical indoor environments.
Identify the SC ports on the equipment or patch panel and ensure both ends are clean using appropriate fiber cleaning tools or wipes. Align and insert each SC connector squarely into the corresponding receptacle until it clicks. Route the cable to avoid sharp bends; maintain a minimum bend radius as recommended for multimode fiber to prevent attenuation. If required, secure the cable in cable management trays or with ties, ensuring no strain is placed on the connectors.
For optimal performance, use certified OM4-capable transceivers and verify link budget and insertion loss after installation. Regularly inspect connector endfaces for contamination and clean before mating. Avoid tight bends and excessive pulling force during installation to maintain signal integrity and cable longevity.
