The Ruijie Networks RG-CS83-48GT4XS-P is a managed Layer 3 Gigabit Ethernet access switch in a 1U grey chassis designed for enterprise access and aggregation scenarios. It offers 48 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ-45 ports plus four SFP+ slots that support 1G/10G connections, integrated Power over Ethernet (PoE+) capability, and a switching capacity of 176 Gbit/s. The switch includes carrier-class reliability features such as hardware-level dual-boot redundancy and enhanced surge protection to support deployments in demanding environments.
This managed L3 switch combines high port density with flexible uplink options, PoE+ power delivery, and a 16,000-entry MAC address table for scalable access layer deployment. The device implements dual flash boot redundancy to reduce boot failure risk and industry-leading port surge protection (up to 10 kV on ports, 8 kV on PoE modules) to improve resilience. The RGOS modular operating system supports open programmability and rapid online upgrades, while multiple network management methods simplify ongoing maintenance.
Install the RG-CS83-48GT4XS-P in a standard 19-inch rack using the included mounting hardware. Connect access devices to the RJ-45 ports and configure required PoE settings for connected powered devices. Use the SFP+ slots for uplinks to aggregation switches or servers where 1G/10G capacity is needed. Access the device via the supported management interfaces to perform initial configuration: set IP addressing, VLANs, routing policies, Quality of Service (QoS) parameters, and Access Control Lists (ACLs) according to your network design. Apply firmware and application updates through the RGOS management tools to take advantage of modular features and online extensions.
Deploy the switch in a properly ventilated rack space and ensure a stable AC power source. Plan PoE budget according to the number and power class of connected devices to avoid exceeding the device’s PoE capacity. Use the dual-boot feature and maintain current firmware images on both flash chips to minimize downtime risk. For environments with high lightning or surge risk, combine the built-in surge protection with proper grounding and external surge arrestors where required.
