Electrical enclosure Rittal 9781.818 Aluminium IP55, Width 800 mm, Depth 800 mm, Height 1200 mm
Rittal 9781.818 is an aluminium electrical enclosure with IP55 protection, measuring 800 mm wide, 800 mm deep and 1200 mm high. Designed for indoor and sheltered outdoor use, the bayable twin-walled cabinet includes a 100 mm base/plinth, a door, rear panel and a seamlessly bayable weather canopy. The frame offers open interior space for flexible interior installation of control equipment, terminal blocks, instrumentation and junction components where dust and water protection is required.
The aluminium construction provides corrosion resistance while keeping the enclosure lightweight compared with steel options. IP55 rating ensures protection against dust ingress and water jets, suitable for environments with occasional exposure to moisture. The twin-walled design improves thermal behaviour and mechanical stability, and the bayable canopy and frame allow multiple units to be joined without exposed seams. A 100 mm base/plinth raises the enclosure from the floor to simplify cable entry and mounting of internal substructures.
This enclosure is not intended for fully exposed outdoor locations where higher protection against heavy water exposure or immersion is required; IP55 does not provide protection against continuous submersion. It may also be less suitable where electromagnetic screening or very high mechanical impact resistance is mandatory compared with heavier-sheet steel or stainless steel enclosures.
Mount the enclosure on a level surface or secure it to a prepared foundation using the base/plinth. Fit the rear panel and open the door to install the required internal mounting plates, rails or panels within the frame. Route cables through designated entry points or use accessory glands and conduit fittings; ensure correct sealing around penetrations to maintain IP55 rating. Position equipment such as terminal strips, PLCs or meters and secure them to internal supports. After wiring, close the door and verify gaskets and canopy joints are properly seated to preserve environmental protection.
For reliable performance, use compatible cable glands and sealing accessories for all penetrations, install internally mounted distribution hardware on standard rails or mounting plates, and when baying multiple units, align canopies and frame joints to maintain weather protection and a continuous enclosure appearance.
