The ROLINE Industrial Converter RJ-45 ROLINE 1000SX/LC provides direct media conversion between a Gigabit copper RJ-45 port and a Gigabit fiber SFP port. Designed for industrial environments, it supports 1000 Mbit/s Ethernet LAN data rates and operates over a wide temperature range. The unit is compact and energy-efficient, available with two power interface options and compatible with DIN-rail or panel mounting.

Advantages

This plug-and-play media converter requires no configuration and supports full wire-speed conversion with transparent handling of all packet types and lengths. It features auto-negotiation and auto-MDI/MDI-X on the copper port, link pass-through between copper and fiber, and Far End Fault support on the fiber side. Low power consumption and rugged operating temperature make it suitable for continuous industrial use.

How to use

Install the media converter on a DIN-rail or mount it to a panel, connect a shielded RJ-45 cable from your copper Ethernet device to the RJ-45 port and insert the pre-configured SFP transceiver into the SFP slot for the fiber connection. Provide power via the selected interface (screw terminal block or DC jack) within the 7–30 V DC range. The device operates in plug-and-play mode; after physical connections and power-up, link negotiation and conversion occur automatically.

Usage recommendations

For reliable long-term operation, ensure the selected SFP transceiver matches the fiber type and distance required by your installation and protect the unit from sustained exposure to temperatures outside the specified -20 °C to +70 °C range.
