The ROLINE Fibre Optic Jumper Cable OM4 50/125µm LC/ST 5m is a duplex patch cable designed for high-speed network links. It uses laser-optimized OM4 multimode fiber (50 µm) with extended bandwidth to support current 1 and 10 Gbit/s applications and future 40 and 100 Gbit/s systems. The cable comes with LC and ST connectors and a length of 5 meters, suitable for short- and medium-reach connections in data centers, building backbones and campus networks.
OM4 fiber provides a high modal bandwidth (4700 MHz·km) that exceeds IEEE requirements for extended 10 Gbit/s reach, allowing up to 550 meters at 10 Gbit/s and supporting 300 meters at 40 Gbit/s. As a duplex 50/125 µm jumper with quality connectors and controlled assembly, the cable offers low insertion loss and low reflection for reliable signal transmission. For lower rates such as 100 Mbit/s or 1 Gbit/s, OM4 matches the performance of OM2/OM3 while offering superior performance at higher data rates.
Install the jumper by connecting the LC and ST connectors to the appropriate ports on patch panels, switches or transceivers, observing correct polarity for duplex links. Route the cable without tight bends and secure it to prevent strain on the connectors. Verify link status and perform optical loss or continuity checks after installation to ensure expected performance.
Use OM4 jumpers for high-bandwidth short- to medium-reach links in data centers and backbones; for longer singlemode spans or very long campus links, choose appropriate singlemode fiber solutions. Handle connectors carefully and follow standard fiber-cleaning procedures to maintain low insertion loss and reflection.
