Network patch cable ShiverPeaks S/CONN 10m Cat6 S/FTP (S‑STP) RJ45, gold‑plated contacts, blue
ShiverPeaks S/CONN 10m Cat6 S/FTP (S‑STP) RJ45 patch cable is a 10‑metre halogen‑free Ethernet lead designed for wired LAN and home or office network connections. The cable uses Cat6 construction with S/FTP (overall braid plus individually foil‑shielded pairs) to reduce electromagnetic interference and maintain signal integrity for Gigabit Ethernet. Gold‑plated RJ45 contacts ensure stable, low‑resistance connections and the cable is finished in blue for easy identification in patch panels and cabling runs.
The S/FTP shielding provides enhanced protection against external EMI and crosstalk between pairs, helping to preserve data throughput at up to 1000 Mbit/s over typical Ethernet distances. Gold‑plated contacts improve corrosion resistance and contact reliability, reducing the risk of intermittent connections. The halogen‑free jacket reduces toxic gas emission in case of fire, meeting safety considerations for many installations. A 10 m length offers flexibility for desk‑to‑switch runs or structured cabling between racks and wall outlets.
This Cat6 S/FTP cable is intended for copper Ethernet links up to typical Gigabit distances; it is not suitable for multi‑gigabit standards that require higher category cabling (for example Cat6a or Cat7 for 10 Gbit/s over longer distances). The fixed 10 m length may be excessive for short desktop runs or insufficient for longer backbone or inter‑building links.
Connect one RJ45 plug to the network device (switch, router or wall socket) and the other RJ45 plug to the endpoint (PC, NAS, IP camera, etc.). Ensure connectors are fully inserted until the latch clicks to secure the connection. Avoid tight bends and kinks in the cable path and maintain a bend radius appropriate for Ethernet cabling to preserve performance. For fixed installations, route the cable away from strong power sources and large motors to reduce EMI exposure.
To maintain optimal performance, keep the cable away from high‑voltage power lines, avoid sharp bends, and use proper cable management. For environments with higher bandwidth requirements, evaluate Cat6a or higher categories. Inspect gold‑plated contacts periodically and reseat connectors if intermittent links occur.
