Acrylic medium gloss gel SMARTMAX 237 ml

SMARTMAX Acrylic medium gloss gel 237 ml is an acrylic-based gel medium with a medium viscosity and a clear glossy finish. It is formulated for mixing directly with acrylic paints to increase body and translucency or for application as a transparent top layer to enhance surface shine. The gel improves adhesion to common painting supports, slightly extends open working time, and preserves brushstrokes and texture in painting and mixed-media work. The 237 ml container suits studio use and smaller projects where controlled application and finish are important.

Advantages

The medium delivers a durable glossy surface that enhances colour depth without significantly altering pigment hue. Its medium consistency balances flow and body, allowing artists to retain impasto effects while improving paint adhesion to canvas, board and other porous supports. It reduces brittleness when mixed with acrylic paint and dries to a clear, non-yellowing finish suitable for layering and glazing techniques.

Suitable for

• Mixing with acrylic paints to increase body and gloss
• Transparent top layer to protect and enhance finished surfaces
• Preserving brushstrokes and texture in impasto and relief techniques
• Canvas, board and mixed-media applications
• Small to medium studio projects and craft work

Key specifications

• Finish: clear gloss when fully dry
• Volume: 237 ml
• Compatibility: designed for use with acrylic paints and mixed-media materials
• Drying: dries to touch within normal acrylic timeframes; retains slight open time for blending

How to use

Use the SMARTMAX Acrylic medium gloss gel either mixed into acrylic paint or applied as a clear top layer. When mixing, add small amounts to paint to increase translucency and body, adjusting ratio to achieve desired consistency and sheen. Apply with brush or palette knife; for glazing or clear layers apply a thin, even coat and allow to dry completely before additional layers. Clean tools with water before the product dries. Test compatibility with special surfaces or additives on a small sample area before full application.

Usage recommendations

For best results, stir the gel gently before use to ensure uniform consistency. When working in layers, allow each layer to dry fully to prevent tackiness between coats. Store the container tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve performance and shelf life.
