Managed Switch SonicWall SWS14-24
The SonicWall SWS14-24 is a managed Layer 2 Gigabit Ethernet switch with 24 RJ-45 ports and a switching capacity of 128 Gbit/s. It provides a MAC address table with up to 32,000 entries, supports IEEE 802.1p traffic prioritization and IEEE 802.1x port-based network access control, and comes in a 1U rack-mountable black chassis. The switch includes 10 Gigabit support to accommodate growing uplink and aggregation needs while maintaining per-port Gigabit connectivity for edge devices.
The SWS14-24 delivers predictable wired performance with managed switching features suitable for business environments. Its support for IEEE 802.1p enables traffic prioritization for latency-sensitive services, and IEEE 802.1x provides access control at the port level. Rack-mountable 1U construction and a compact weight make it practical for standard server cabinets and branch locations. Native 10G support allows for higher-capacity uplinks and aggregation without replacing the existing installed base of Gigabit endpoints.
Install the SWS14-24 in a standard 19-inch 1U rack space and connect edge devices to the 24 Gigabit RJ-45 ports. Use the available 10G-capable uplink ports where higher bandwidth is required for aggregation to core switches or servers. Configure VLANs, Quality of Service (IEEE 802.1p) and port-based authentication (IEEE 802.1x) through the switch management interface or via integration with SonicWall management tools. Ensure the switch firmware is up to date before placing the unit into production.
For reliable performance, place the switch in a temperature-controlled rack and provide adequate airflow. Use 10G uplinks for traffic aggregation when multiple Gigabit endpoints generate high throughput. Enable IEEE 802.1x for stricter access control and configure QoS policies for voice and critical application traffic to reduce latency and packet loss.
