Watercolour pencil Staedtler Noris aquarell 144 10
The Staedtler Noris aquarell 144 10 is a set of 12 watercolour pencils offering a balanced palette of vibrant and muted tones including Black, Blue, Bordeaux, Brown, Green, Light Green, Mauve, Navy, Orange, Peach, Red, and Yellow. Each pencil is designed for smooth colour laydown, easy blending and reliable solubility when activated with water, enabling both precise dry drawing and painterly wet techniques on appropriate paper surfaces.
These watercolour pencils combine the control of a coloured pencil with the fluid effects of watercolour paint. Pigments are formulated for good colour intensity and mixability, while the pencil format provides fine detail and controlled shading. The set is suitable for layering, gradient transitions and wash effects when water is applied, and the pencil leads are designed to sharpen cleanly for accurate line work.
Use the pencils dry for detailed lines, hatching and tonal work. To create watercolour effects, apply colour to paper and then activate the pigments using a wet brush; the intensity can be adjusted by varying the amount of water or the number of pencil layers. For washes, lay down colour broadly and blend with a moistened brush; for fine painterly details, use a small brush or sharpen the pencil to a fine point before applying water. Allow layers to dry between applications when building up transparent washes.
For best results, use on textured watercolour or mixed-media paper with moderate to high weight (140–300 g/m²). Store pencils in a dry place and sharpen with a quality sharpener to avoid breakage. When blending multiple colours with water, test combinations on scrap paper to predict final tones.
