StarTech.com 3m LC to SC OS2 Single Mode Fiber Optic Cable 9/125µm is a 3-meter simplex patch cord designed for 40G/100G CWDM applications over OS2 fiber. The cable supports an extended wavelength range of 1260–1625 nm, is bend-insensitive, and is compatible with LC and SC simplex ports, SFP transceivers, and fiber NICs. Constructed with a 9/125µm core and LSZH flame-retardant jacket, it is backwards compatible with OS1 networks and supplied with individual insertion loss test reports.
The cable provides low insertion loss (below 0.3 dB) due to precision ceramic ferrules and UPC-polished endfaces, which also improve return loss compared with older PC polishing. Bend-insensitive fiber construction and low-attenuation OS2 performance meet ITU-T G.652.D/G.657.A1 and IEC60703-2-50 type B1.3/B6.a1 standards. The LSZH jacket reduces smoke and toxic fume emissions in the event of fire, supporting safer installations in constrained or regulated environments. Each unit is individually tested and shipped with a test report.
Inspect connectors and fiber ends before installation to ensure cleanliness. Plug the LC connector into the LC simplex port and the SC connector into the SC simplex port or corresponding transceiver until each connector latches securely. Route the cable following minimum bend-radius recommendations to preserve bend-insensitive performance, avoid tight bends and crushing, and maintain stable insertion loss over the link. Verify connectivity and insertion loss using appropriate test equipment if required.
For best long-term performance, keep connector endfaces covered with dust caps when not in use, clean endfaces with approved fiber cleaning tools before mating, and avoid routing the cable near high-heat sources or sharp edges. Use the included test report to confirm that the cable meets your insertion loss requirements prior to deployment.
