PCIe Expansion Chassis StarTech TB31PCIEX16
Add an external PCIe (PCI Express 3.0) x16 slot and a DisplayPort connection to your Thunderbolt 3 equipped MacBook or laptop with the PCIe Expansion Chassis StarTech TB31PCIEX16. This Thunderbolt 3 chassis connects via an external Thunderbolt 3 port to provide a full-length PCIe x16 slot for installing expansion cards, plus a DisplayPort output for an additional monitor. It supports Thunderbolt 3 daisy chaining to integrate additional devices into your workstation.
The StarTech TB31PCIEX16 enables desktop-class PCIe expansion for Thunderbolt 3 laptops and computers, supporting PCIe 3.0 performance over a 40 Gbps Thunderbolt 3 connection. It accepts a wide range of PCI Express cards such as USB, SSD, network, eSATA, FireWire and video capture cards, and includes a DisplayPort output and a second Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) port for connecting extra displays or chaining other Thunderbolt/USB/DisplayPort devices. The unit is compact, bus-powered with external power supply compatibility, and includes active cooling with a single fan.
Connect the TB31PCIEX16 to a Thunderbolt 3 port on your laptop or desktop using a Thunderbolt 3 cable. Install a compatible PCIe card into the internal PCIe x16 slot following the card manufacturer's installation instructions. Use the DisplayPort output to attach an external monitor, or connect a monitor via the second Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) port using an appropriate video adapter if required. If you need additional devices, use the second Thunderbolt 3 port to daisy chain Thunderbolt or USB accessories. Ensure the chassis is connected to mains power before powering the system.
Install supported PCIe cards that conform to PCIe 3.0 specifications and verify driver compatibility with your operating system. For best performance, use high-quality Thunderbolt 3 cables and connect directly to the host Thunderbolt 3 port. Allow adequate ventilation for the chassis fan and avoid blocking air intake or exhaust during intensive workloads.
