Wireless Range Extender TP‑Link RE505X, Wi‑Fi 6 (802.11ax) 1200 Mbit/s, 1× Gigabit Ethernet, External Antennas, White
TP‑Link RE505X is a dual‑band wireless range extender that supports Wi‑Fi 6 (802.11ax) and delivers combined data rates up to 1200 Mbit/s. Its compact white enclosure with external antennas is designed for home or small office use and includes one Gigabit Ethernet port to provide a wired connection for a single device. LED indicators show Power, WAN and WLAN status while the unit operates with low power consumption (max 10 W). The device can operate as a range extender to boost an existing wireless network, or as an access point when connected via Ethernet.
The RE505X brings Wi‑Fi 6 performance to areas with weak signal, reducing dead zones and supporting multiple devices with improved efficiency compared with previous Wi‑Fi generations. Dual‑band operation and a High Speed mode allow the extender to use both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands to maximise throughput for streaming and interactive applications. Adaptive Path Selection helps the unit automatically choose the fastest route to the router, and the Gigabit Ethernet port enables a stable wired connection for a smart TV, game console or other single wired device.
Place the RE505X within range of your existing router where signal is still reliable but can be improved toward target areas. Use the TP‑Link Tether app (Android or iOS) or the web interface to perform initial setup and connect the extender to your main router; follow on‑screen steps to select the desired Wi‑Fi network and band configuration. To use Access Point mode, connect an Ethernet cable from your router or a network switch to the extender’s Gigabit port and configure wireless settings to create a new wireless hotspot. Status LEDs indicate connection quality during placement and operation.
For best performance, position the extender halfway between the router and the area with poor coverage, avoid placing it near large metal objects or sources of interference, and enable High Speed mode for bandwidth‑intensive tasks. If you have a compatible TP‑Link OneMesh router, enable OneMesh to create a unified Wi‑Fi name and enable smart roaming for seamless device handoff.
