The TP-Link TL-SG1005P-PD is a 5-port Gigabit Ethernet switch with integrated Power over Ethernet (PoE) reception and distribution. It provides five RJ45 ports that support 10/100/1000 Mbps and offers automatic detection of PoE power requirements. The unit features a durable metal casing, fanless silent operation and can be mounted on a desktop or a wall. The switch is designed to be powered only via PoE (802.3bt/at/af) and does not accept an external AC or DC adapter.

Advantages

This compact PoE-PD switch supports up to 66 W, 47 W, 21 W or 9 W PoE budget output depending on the upstream PoE standard (802.3bt Type 4, 802.3bt Type 3, 802.3at, 802.3af). With Extend Mode enabled, PoE transmission distance can reach up to 250 m for long-range device deployment. PoE Auto Recovery automatically reboots unresponsive Powered Devices to maintain stable operation. The metal housing ensures durability while the fanless design provides silent operation. Plug-and-play setup requires no additional configuration.

How to use

Connect a PoE++/PoE+/PoE injector or an upstream PoE++ switch to the PoE-In Gigabit port of the TL-SG1005P-PD to power the device. Connect up to four PD devices to the PoE+ output ports. If deploying devices at extended distances, enable Extend Mode to allow PoE transmission up to 250 m. The switch detects connected PoE devices automatically and supplies the required power without user configuration. Do not connect an AC or DC adapter; the unit requires PoE input only.

Usage recommendations

For reliable long-distance camera or access point installations, verify that the upstream PoE source supports the required 802.3bt power level for your devices. Use shielded or high-quality Ethernet cabling for runs close to the 250 m maximum and follow local installation rules for outdoor or exposed cable routing.
