Network Media Converter TP-Link XZ005-G6 2488 Mbit/s 1490 nm White
The TP-Link XZ005-G6 network media converter converts optical signals to Ethernet, enabling connectivity between fiber and copper networks. It supports a maximum data transfer rate of 2488 Mbit/s and operates at a wavelength of 1490 nm, offering long-reach fibre links up to 20,000 metres. The compact white housing (95 mm × 75 mm × 29.3 mm) is designed for installation in small spaces and for integration into existing network setups where fiber-to-Ethernet conversion is required.
The unit provides multi-rate Ethernet support with 2500 and 1200 Mbit/s LAN speeds, allowing compatibility with various access equipment and uplink speeds. Its long maximum transfer distance makes it suitable for metropolitan and campus networks where extended fibre runs are necessary. The compact dimensions and lightweight construction simplify placement and reduce the need for additional rack space. Operating at a 1490 nm wavelength ensures compatibility with commonly deployed single-mode fiber systems.
Install the media converter near the fiber termination point or in a convenient intermediate location. Connect the single-mode fiber cable to the optical port and the Ethernet cable to the copper LAN port. Power the device according to the manufacturer's supply requirements and verify link status via indicator LEDs or network management tools. Ensure matching LAN speed settings on connected equipment (2500 or 1200 Mbit/s) where manual configuration is necessary. After link establishment, test data throughput and latency to confirm expected performance across the fibre span.
Place the converter in a dry, ventilated area away from direct sunlight and sources of heat. Use quality single-mode fiber and properly rated connectors to achieve the specified maximum transfer distance. Verify optical power budgets and employ compatible transceivers or patch panels when integrating into existing fiber infrastructures.
