SFP transceiver module Trendnet TEG-MGBSX Fiber optic 1000 Mbit/s
SFP transceiver module Trendnet TEG-MGBSX Fiber optic 1000 Mbit/s
The Trendnet TEG-MGBSX is a compact SFP fiber optic transceiver module designed for 1000 Mbit/s (Gigabit) network connections. It provides single-mode or multimode fiber compatibility depending on system configuration and supports reliable data transmission over fiber optic cabling. Powered by a 3.3 V input, the module’s small form factor (approximately 13 mm wide, 57 mm deep, 12 mm high) fits standard SFP ports and is suitable for integration into switches, routers and media converters that accept SFP modules.
The module delivers gigabit throughput with low power consumption thanks to its 3.3 V operation and compact SFP footprint. Its standardized SFP form factor enables hot-pluggable installation and interoperability with networking equipment that supports SFP transceivers. The small dimensions reduce occupied space in dense rack deployments, while optical transmission ensures immunity to electromagnetic interference and long-distance connectivity when used with compatible fiber cabling.
Insert the SFP transceiver into an empty SFP slot on a compatible switch, router or media converter until it seats firmly and the retention mechanism engages. Connect the appropriate fiber optic cable (matching the transceiver’s fiber type and connector) to the module’s optical port. Ensure the connected equipment is configured for a 1 Gbit/s link and verify link/activity LEDs on the host device. Safe hot-plugging is supported by the SFP standard, but avoid excessive force and observe electrostatic discharge precautions when handling the module.
Use fiber cables and connectors that match the transceiver’s optical specifications and maintain clean connector endfaces to prevent signal loss. Verify compatibility with the host device’s supported SFP modules and confirm link settings in network equipment management interfaces. For installation in high-density environments, label fiber runs and document port assignments to simplify maintenance and troubleshooting.
