Network Media Converter Trendnet TFC-PGSFP
The Network Media Converter Trendnet TFC-PGSFP is a compact wired connectivity device that converts between copper Ethernet and SFP-based fiber interfaces. It supports multi-rate Ethernet on the RJ-45 port (10/100/1000 Mbps) and a single SFP fiber port compatible with 100Base and 1000Base SFP modules. The unit is designed for integration into existing Ethernet networks where a short, space-saving media conversion between copper and fiber is required. The converter's small footprint and black enclosure allow straightforward placement in equipment racks, desktop setups, or network cabinets.
The Trendnet TFC-PGSFP provides flexible interface support with both copper and SFP fiber connectivity, enabling compatibility with 10Base-T, 100Base-T and Gigabit links. With a maximum aggregated transfer capability listed at 2000 Mbit/s and support for standard Ethernet rates, the device can be used in mixed-speed networks without complex configuration. Its single RJ-45 and single fiber port design simplifies installation and reduces points of failure. The lightweight housing and compliance with CE and FCC standards support reliable deployment in commercial and small enterprise environments.
Install a compatible SFP module into the SFP slot according to module instructions and connect the fiber cable to the module. Connect the RJ-45 port to a copper Ethernet device or switch using a standard Ethernet cable. Power the converter using the supplied power adapter or PoE input if supported by your setup and ensure indicator LEDs show link status. No special software configuration is required for basic media conversion; the device operates at line speed and negotiates supported Ethernet rates automatically between connected devices.
Place the converter in a ventilated area free from excessive heat or moisture. Use SFP modules that match the intended fiber type and distance (for example SX for multimode short-range and LX for single-mode longer-range). Verify link speed and duplex settings on connected devices if link issues occur, and secure fiber connectors to avoid excessive bending. For deployments requiring higher port density or advanced management features, consider a managed media converter or SFP-enabled switch.
