The Tripp Lite B040-016-19 KVM Switch is a 1U rack-mountable console that integrates a 19-inch LCD, keyboard and touchpad into a single compact unit for managing up to 16 directly connected servers or computers. The built-in 19-inch display supports up to 1366 x 768 resolution and the metal housing is designed for regular data-center use. The unit accepts PS/2 and USB connections via P780-Series combo cable kits and includes an extra HD15 VGA port and an additional USB port for peripheral connection.

How to use

Install the B040-016-19 into a 1U rack space and connect each server using P780-Series combo cables to the corresponding KVM ports. Use the on-console push buttons, OSD menu or keyboard hotkeys to switch between connected systems. If needed, daisy-chain additional B042-Series KVMs to expand the number of controlled computers. Connect an external VGA monitor or external console to the spare HD15 port and attach a USB keyboard or mouse to the additional USB port.

Usage recommendations

For reliable operation, mount the console in a properly ventilated rack, use the recommended P780-Series combo cables for PS/2 and USB compatibility, and secure access with the unit’s password protection. To extend remote access capabilities, pair the KVM with the B051-000 IP Remote Access Unit.
