The Tripp Lite U442-DOCK7D-B USB-C dock expands a compatible device’s USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 port into 14 ports, providing HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA video outputs, Gigabit Ethernet, multiple USB-A and USB-C ports, card readers and audio connectivity. It supports USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode for direct video output without drivers and includes a USB-C PD 3.0 charging input that accepts up to 20V 5A (100W). The compact black dock is designed for plug-and-play use with Windows laptops, Chromebooks, compatible tablets, smartphones and PCs.

Advantages

The dock provides triple-display support through HDMI, DisplayPort and VGA outputs and supports true 4K video (HDMI 3840 × 2160 @ 30 Hz; DP 4096 × 2160 @ 30 Hz) and 4:4:4 chroma for accurate color reproduction. It adds wired Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, three USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports (one with 5V/1.5A charging), two USB 2.0 ports, a USB-C data port, SD and microSD card slots, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. Power Delivery pass-through accepts up to 100W input and PD 3.0 Fast Role Swap preserves connections if the AC charger is disconnected. The detachable USB-C cable and driver auto-install make setup straightforward.

How to use

Connect the included detachable USB-C host cable to a compatible laptop, tablet or smartphone that supports USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode. If using Power Delivery, connect your device’s AC charger to the USB-C PD port on the dock to supply up to 100W input. Attach monitors to the HDMI, DisplayPort and/or VGA outputs and plug peripherals into the USB ports, insert SD or microSD cards, and connect an Ethernet cable as needed. Drivers will auto-install on initial connection for most Windows systems; macOS may mirror additional displays instead of extending them.

Usage recommendations

For multiple-monitor setups, verify your host device’s GPU and OS support for SST or MST and the maximum bandwidth per display. Use a compatible USB-C PD charger that can supply the required wattage. For wired network performance, use a quality Cat5e/Cat6 cable.
